"What have I learned from this project experience this year?" This was an awesome experience. I have never done something like this
before and I would like to thank Mrs. Paterson for giving me this opportunity. It was fun talking to Russia and learning about their Russian
life.
Leonie, Calgary, Canada
This has been an amazing experience for me. I've always wanted to have a
pen pal and havine an epal from Russia has been a dream come true. I got to
learn about the culture and how Russia is like now. When we were learning
about Russia at school, we got all our information out of the textbooks and
we only learned about the history. Talking to people in Russia has taught
us a lot about modern day Russia. My Russian epals were really kind and
funny and they were interested in Canada as well. I think we have both
learned a lot about each other and hope to keep in touch with each other.
I've not only gained knowledge about Russia but I've also gained two Russian
friends.
Pallavi, Calgary, Canada
Thanks you for choosing me to be part of the Russia project. I've enjoyed
everything we did and the education we received from the project. From
Russia with Love project was special from any other projects that we were
assigned to do. Participating in this project we were assigned to contact
our buddies every week. From sending emails back and forth, we learned a
lot of things about Russia. Even though miscommunication got in between us,
we still enjoyed writing to each other. This project has brought us a lot
of experience and knowledge about our world. It has been an awesome time
and I hope this project will continue.
Stewart, Calgary, Canada
Some things I have learned from being part of "From Russia
with Love" is how to communicate and be in a distant friendship. I have never been a part of
something like this and I am glad I got a chance at this experience.
Communicating with people overseas has given me a different look on another
culture and how alike we really are. I am happy to have experienced this
kind of reality. Thanks to everyone for giving me the chance.
Saireen, Calgary, Canada
This experience helped to show me what is "out" there. I have never really
thought about how people live in other countries and so this experience
showed me. I think it was such a cool experience to see how people our age
act. It has been so interesting to learn about other cultures. I some ways
they are similar and in other ways they are different. I think both us and
the Russians have benefitted from this experience. I am sure they have
found this experience just as interesting as we have. I am so lucky to have
experienced this.
Natalie, Calgary, Canada
I thought that having a Russian epal was great. I think it helped me learn
more about their culture which helped me learn about ours more. It was a
great experience and a lot of fun.
Rahana, Calgary, Canada
This whole project has been a wonderful experience. I have
learned a lot about Russia. I look at Russia as an exciting place. The best part of the
project was when Yana and Svetlana came and when we held the Russia Fair.
It was hard work but it was worth it. I am really glad that I took part in
this project. If I didn't then I would not have had the chance to take part
in the exciting events. Thanks, Mrs. Paterson!
Noorez, Calgary, Canada
I would like to thank you for letting me be part of the epals group. I had
lots of fun emailing Peter once a week. I learned so much in the Russia
unit and more from Peter answering my questions. Thank you for this once in
a lifetime experience.
Katie, Calgary, Canada
My feelings towards the From Russia with Love project would have to include
happiness, excitement and frustratin. It was a blast to communicate with
people from another nation but frustrating when the technology didn't work
or if there was not a letter for you to read. I really enjoyed the project
because we got to learn by experience, which is something we don't always
get and we had a first hand impression of Russia. It was a good project.
Holly, Calgary, Canada
This experience has been
really fun and memorable. I really enjoyed
communicating with Ann and I hope she felt the same about me. I learned so
much about their culture, their holidays and most of all I realized that in
Russia kids are a lot like me. Thank you so much for allowing me to
experience being an epal!
Sonja, Calgary, Canada
This whole project to me has been a great success. There were a few
glitches at the beginning but by the end all was running smooth. Through
this program not only did I learn about Russia in a unique way, but I also
gained two great friends from a very different part of the world. I have
been emailing Serge and Ann K. throughout this project. I have been
involved in many things and now I will always cherish the memories and
experiences that I have picked up on the way. Thank you everyone that made
this happen. It is something I will never forget.
Robyn, Calgary, Canada
I think this whole epals experience has really helped me learn the Russia
unit a lot better than anything else. It allowed me to get feedback and
information from a true Russian. Along with learning the curriculum, I have
made a true friend with someone halfway around the world. I hope that I
will be able to keep in touch even after the school year ends.
Kandice, Calgary, Canada
Thank yo so much for letting me be a part of epals. I have had so much fun
writing Ann and learning about her country and the things that she does.
Thank you so much. I have had a ton of fun. I received more from this
experience than I ever thought I would.
Kaiti, Calgary, Canada
Talking to a girl in Russia (Mary) has made every Monday a little happier
for me and I look forward to talking to her again next year. In this I have
learned more about the lifestyle of Russians and learned a lot from Yana and
Svetlana. This year has been so great and full of fun experiences that I
feel sorry for the other pods that didn't get to be a part of epals.
